Solar lentigines, also known as age spots or ‘liver spots’, are features of chronic sun exposure. They are very common on sun-damaged face and back of the hands. Although they are due to sun, rather than age per se, they contribute considerably to an aged appearance. Fortunately solar lentigines are usually easily managed, with a combination of intense pulse light, or lasers including ResurFX.
Usually two treatments will give good results. After each treatment, the lentigines look a little darker temporarily, before shedding a week later. The resulting new skin appears more even and youthful.
