Over the last couple of decades, there have been great advances allowing us better understanding of the pathogenesis of psoriasis, as well as many inflammatory skin conditions and internal disease. These have led to the development of biologics, a new class of medications. Biologics work by targeting the precise immune mechanisms that are involved in causing the disease. Overall, these medications have greater efficacy and safety, compared to traditional medications.

Dr Jason Wu has particular interest and extensive experience in this field. In addition to his private practice at Queensland Specialist Dermatology, he runs the Biologics and Difficult Psoriasis clinic at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (since its inception in 2008). He has presented and been on steering committees for several national meetings in the field of biologics, collaborated on position statements, and been on national advisory boards for multiple medications in this field.
